Head of Lower School

Wandsworth Preparatory School is a small, one form entry independent school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. We believe that, from an early age, children should enjoy a breadth of opportunity to develop their ability, interests and potential in a nurturing, warm and secure environment. We see ourselves as a family school with unfailing emphasis placed on the happiness of each child. Our approach to teaching and learning, strikes a balance between ensuring firm foundations and creativity, allowing children access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

There is specialist teaching in music, sport and languages throughout the school and English and maths at Key Stage 2. Foundation subjects are taught through an enquiry-led creative curriculum. We are also a Forest School throughout the Key Stages.

Wandsworth Preparatory School is currently in a period of growth. The school opened its doors in September 2012 with one Reception class, in September 2017 the school will have reached full capacity with children from the EYFS to Year 6.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced EYFS and Key Stage 1 teacher or leader who is ready for the next step in his or her career to become part of the Senior Leadership Team as the Head of Lower School. The successful candidate will be committed to developing a curriculum which provides challenging, meaningful and purposeful learning experiences for all our children as well as ensuring firm foundations are in place to allow for later success in 11+ examinations to a variety of senior schools. The appointed person will also be a class teacher in Key Stage 1 and be responsible for the EYFS and Year 1. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work with the Headteacher and other phase leaders in making key decisions for the whole school.
