St Mary’s Calne is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18, a happy, purposeful and flourishing community of around 360 pupils with an 80% to 20% boarding to day ratio.  Located near the market town of Calne and amidst the Wiltshire Downs, an area of stunning natural beauty and historical significance, we are also within easy reach of the university cities of Bath, Bristol and Oxford and just over an hour by train from London.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Management Information Systems (MIS) to work within our IT department.

The Head of MIS will ensure the efficient input, management and co-ordination of all school data in the iSAMS MIS system. They will be responsible for the security and maintenance of all school data including timetabling, pupil portal accounts and iSAMS. The post holder will analyse data, identify trends and anomalies and provide the Headmistress and senior leadership team with accurate, timely and user friendly data. Other duties will include the managing of all school reporting cycles, design and production of regular and ad hoc reports and providing training for support staff on the use of the MIS. 

Exceptional IT skills are essential for this post with a knowledge of SQL and Visual Studio advantageous. Strong communications skills are also key to the role as the post holder will interact with many different members of academic and support staff. A high level of accuracy and good attention to detail are also important and you would also need to be equally comfortable working both on your own initiative and as part of a small team. Experience of the iSAMS system and within an educational environment are also desirable.

This position is a 40 hours per week, term time only contract.  (Working 35 weeks a year during term time plus 5 weeks during holiday time. This includes the first 2 and last 2 weeks of the school summer holidays. The fifth week will be worked as required by the department needs).   

Salary dependent on experience, circa £30,000 FTE (pro-rated to approx £ 26,000 for 40 working weeks plus 5 weeks paid holiday).
