This is a full-time permanent position.  We welcome applicants from either selective or wide ability settings, who are keen to work with high achieving and motivated students in a strong department.  The successful applicant will be expected to have experience of teaching up to and including A Level, with a proven track record of examination success.  He/she must be an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire both colleagues and students and lead by example.  The Subject Leader post attracts a TLR 1(b).

The Mathematics Department at the Norton Knatchbull School has been a stable and high achieving Department for many years, consistently achieving good results in both GCSE and A Level Mathematics. Colleagues are supportive and collaborative, with most teaching in all Key Stages, seeing their role as equipping our students with excellent maths skills for the next phase of their lives whether that is A Level, university or work.  They seek to provide learning that enables students to become confident with their maths skills, whilst enjoying the subject.  The department follows a two year KS3 and three year KS4 program.   At KS3, the department is introducing and refining a mastery curriculum.  At GCSE our stronger mathematicians have the opportunity to do a Free Standing Maths Qualification to further develop their maths skills in preparation for A levels.  At A Level students have the opportunity to study Maths or Further Maths, with Maths being one of the most popular A level subjects in the school.  Many students progress every year to Maths and related degree courses. Further information about the whole school and Maths curriculum vision and aims can be found at The Knatchbull Baccalaureate | The Norton Knatchbull School (nks.kent.sch.uk)

The Department offers a variety of additional extracurricular opportunities. Pupils at the school undertake the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematics Challenges organised by the UKMT, and students often progress to the follow-on rounds at all levels.
