Alder Community High School is an oversubscribed, 11-16, mixed comprehensive school and is situated in Gee Cross, Hyde within Tameside to the east of Manchester and is close to the borders with Stockport and the Peak District. Our school is moving from strength to strength. Examination results have improved dramatically over the last few years and this year 80% of our students achieved a grade 4 or above in Maths; 75% achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths. Progress in English and Mathematics is consistently above national averages. Our Progress 8 figure in 2016 and 2017 was above the national average and in the top third of schools nationally. In November 2017, Ofsted judged our school as continuing to be ‘Good’.
We are looking to appoint a passionate, inspirational Head of Mathematics to take the department to the next level. The successful applicant will lead a thriving, high-performing and well-resourced department, where results have been consistently significantly above the national averages in all measures. You will be joining a highly committed team of middle leaders who are passionate about raising standards across the school and who are determined to improve outcomes for all students. We expect the successful candidate to take responsibility for their own professional development and that of others.
Alder Community High School is a member of the A+ Trust, which is a collaboration of seven schools and a sixth form college who are working together to support one another in their endeavour to provide the best possible educational experience for the young people of Tameside.
