Harrow International School Shanghai is partnered with the prestigious Harrow School in the UK. Harrow Shanghai opened in August 2016 and is the fourth international school in the family of Harrow schools in Asia. The school combines elements of educational philosophy, practice and traditions, including boarding,  from Harrow School in the UK with the international-mindedness of a diverse student body in Shanghai. Harrow Shanghai currently boasts students from 19 different nationalities.

Harrow Shanghai is a fully co-educational school and has year groups from Pre-Nursery  to Year 10.  In the Lower School (Early Years and Pre-Prep) and Prep Schools the curriculum is based on the English national curriculum, while incorporating elements of other international curricula. In the Senior School students face the challenges of IGCSE and, from August 2017, when Year 12 opens, A-levels. The boarding programme for Years 6 to 12, will also open in August 2017. 

Harrow Shanghai is located in a modern, state-of-the-art and educationally-creative  facility in the Waigaoqiao district of Pudong. The school incorporates the widest possible range of  resources, which in themselves accurately reflect the cosmopolitan and vibrant city of Shanghai. Waigoaqiao is a notable green part of Shanghai, with 70% of the area committed to open spaces and quality of life. Staff accommodation is available in Waigaoqiao, in and around the school.

About Harrow International School, Shanghai

Harrow School Shanghai is a co-educational day school for students aged from 18 months to 18 years. The teaching is based upon the EYFS Framework and the English National Curriculum, culminating in IGCSEs for Years 10 and 11 and A levels within the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13). Harrow Shanghai was the fourth international school in the Harrow family of schools, initially joining those in Bangkok, Beijing and Hong Kong, alongside the historic Harrow School and its near-neighbour, John Lyon School, in London. The School is organised as follows:

  • Early Years -Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception
  • Primary -Years 1- 5
  • Upper School -Years 6- 13

The School combines elements of educational philosophy, practice and traditions from Harrow School in London within an international context. It is envisaged that the School will eventually grow to a roll of approximately 950. As with the other Harrow Schools, Shanghai’s vision, 'Educational Excellence for Life and Leadership', is realised by means of a characteristically Harrow approach to schooling which demands of students and teachers high academic attainment, involvement in a rich array of extra-curricular activities, and engagement in high quality pastoral support structures, particularly the House system. Students are assigned into Houses where their which their academic and all-round well-being is monitored, nurtured and supported.
