An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Department, Maths, to join ACE Schools Plymouth, part of Transforming Futures Trust.


ACE schools is an alternative provision academy based across Cornwall, Plymouth, and Devon. We support up to 500 pupils each year ranging from Year 1 to Year 11. Pupils that we work with often have complex needs and as a result of this don’t currently attend mainstream or special schools’ settings. Our aspiration for all pupils is that we can support them to return to a specialist or mainstream settings and our focus is providing our young people with the skills necessary to make this transition successful.


We are looking for an experienced school middle leader or department deputy who is ready for the next step in their career. You will take responsibility for mathematics curriculum across all sites and work with other leaders to support the quality of mathematics teaching. You will teach KS3 and KS4 pupils at our Bretonside site and

 

As Head of Department, you will be responsible for the performance management of staff, developing teaching and learning in maths and working in collaboration with SLT and other Leaders, contributing to the ongoing CPD of all staff. liaising with other agencies, parents and stakeholders to ensure that safeguarding and outcomes for pupils are outstanding.

 

You will set and manage the budget for the department and ensure that the team are well resourced and supported. You will ensure that deadlines are met.

 

You will have a tutor group and will hold termly multi-agency review meetings for each class member supported by their Learning Mentor. You will liaise with a range of professionals and the SENCo ensuring that pupils’ needs are assessed and provision packages meet them.

 

Accountable to the SLT the Head of Department must support the school in providing vision, leadership and direction for the subject ensuring it is managed to meet and surpass ACE’s aims and targets. You will be a member of the Extended Leadership Team.

ACE Schools Plymouth AP Academy (part of Transforming Futures Trust) was formally set up on 1st June 2016 with the aim of building on the solid foundation established by the previous PRU.
