 Location:      Acton, London — a five-minute walk from Acton Town tube station

Contract:      Full-time hours, permanent contract.      

Start date:     January 2023-but at an alternative start date may be considered.

Opportunity for an exceptional candidate to be a Head of Maths, shaping a new Ark secondary school in Ealing.

We opened to 180 students in September 2021 and currently have 360 Year 7 and Year 8 students in the school. This year we will move into our brand new school building. The role

We are looking for an exceptional head of maths who cares deeply about the students they teach and are prepared to hold students to account with strictness and warmth. You can look forward to joining a great working environment where students are bought in to the school’s ethos and typically work with great enthusiasm, diligence and gratitude towards their teachers.

Our staff are committed subject experts and are given the capacity and the training to ensure that their curriculum delivers knowledge-rich mastery through effective planning and intellectual preparation. In maths our curriculum is based on Maths Mastery ensuring that the department’s time is used where it is most valuable: working as a team to implement the curriculum for the students in our classrooms.

The mathematics department at Soane is exceptional: in our founding year Soane students achieved the strongest exam results in the Ark network with a VA score of +1.55 and 88% of students on track to achieve 4+ at GCSE. As Head of Department you will lead an exceptionally strong team to continue developing our Mastery-based curriculum to GCSE and beyond.

The successful candidate will shape maths provision at the school, embed the school vision and develop an outstanding school that empowers our students to take responsibility and drive their own destinies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the school. They will be supported in their development and preparation for future roles. Teaching experience will not be a determining factor — we welcome applications from experienced department heads as well as those from whom this is a first step into leadership. We will develop every staff member that joins our team, providing one-to-one support, coaching and mentoring and access to extensive network training
