Head of Maths

Broomwood Hall is an independent day school which together with Northcote Lodge forms Northwood Schools teaching over 900 children, aged from 4 to 13, in South West London. Excellent facilities and resources, traditional values, specialist and assistant teachers help create a happy working environment for staff and pupils. We have our own pay scale which is above government pay scale rates.

We are looking for a passionate and innovative teacher to lead our maths department; Promoting their departments is an expectation in all heads of department and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a particular appeal to both pupils and parents for all aspects of mathematics as a subject, and to enhance its position in the curriculum. The School is committed to developing mathematics in the curriculum, and the new head of department will get all the support that he or she may reasonably request in such areas as timetabling, space in the curriculum and resources. However, the department’s future success will be shaped by the personal initiative and energy of the successful candidate.

Candidates for this position should have experience of teaching children aged 8 to 13 in an enthusiastic and child-friendly way and would ideally have worked in a management or leadership position previously. For those that are interested our new senior school venture brings with it the potential to teach to GCSE. Experience of common entrance and public school scholarship exams would also be an advantage but not essential.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to teach a lesson as well as being interviewed.
