Head of Media Studies (Secondary Phase)

St. Mary Magdalene is a popular and successful school with two school campuses; a primary site in Woolwich and a state of the art all through site on the Greenwich Peninsula. It leads a federation with another primary school in Greenwich (SE10), Christ Church – the Koinonia Federation.

St Mary Magdalene’s secondary phase opened in September 2016 and provides a total of 900 places for students aged 11-16.  It also offers a sixth form provision which opened in September 2021, providing 150 places for students in Year 12 and from September 2022 will offer a further 150 places for students in Year 13.

We are looking to appoint a Head of Media Studies to join our expanding secondary phase.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be ambitious in your determination to ensure all our learners achieve and develop their full potential
  • Be inspirational in the classroom
  • Be able to provide engaging and creative learning experiences for all pupils
  • Be committed to assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning
  • Have high expectations and a commitment to the wider school
  • If you feel you share our values, have the vision and drive for excellence and want to be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team, committed to ensuring that students fulfil their potential, then we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will present the best possible example of professional standards to colleagues.

Applications will be considered and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to come in for a lesson observation and interview.

We reserve the right to close this listing early if a large number of favourable applications are received.

Our £65m building is situated on the Greenwich Peninsula, beside the O2, offering excellent public transport links via the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich and various bus routes.

Please note there is no staff parking at the school - please consider this before submitting your application.

As this role will involve contact with children we will take up at least two references before interview asking about your suitability to work with children. Any job offer will be conditional on you having a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Criminal Records Check and Barred List Check, having the legal right to work in the UK and having satisfactory overseas criminal records checks if deemed necessary.
