Do you have a passion for teaching languages and want to make a difference?

If so, we are looking to appoint a talented individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills as our Head of MFL from September 2018. The successful candidate will be a Spanish or French specialist, with the ability to teach the other to at least Key Stage 3. They will be expected to model and inspire excellence in the classroom, and to show a clear track record or potential for department leadership. They will be expected to contribute to the development of the department, its staff and resources, and promote Modern Foreign Languages more widely, both inside and beyond the classroom

As a successful and knowledgeable teacher you will deliver lessons that engage, enthuse and inspire students to succeed enabling the best possible outcomes. We are an inclusive school and have students of all abilities and from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The school offers French and Spanish and the ability to teach at least one of these languages to KS5 is essential.

Spanish: GCSE 66% A*-C

French: GCSE 72% A*-C

We are a mixed 4 – 18 Academy with over 1200 pupils on roll. The school is situated in beautiful countryside, occupying approximately 35 acres just to the north of Great Dunmow.

The school was established in 1958 and is named in honour of the first Chair of Governors.

At Helena Romanes, we are ambitious for our pupils and we offer them a rich and varied curriculum. Our pupils develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that enables them to move successfully into higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment.

While academic achievement is of crucial importance, we also ensure that we focus effectively on developing our pupils’ personal, social and creative skills. Our aim is that pupils leave Helena Romanes as successful, confident and considerate young adults.
