Wardle Academy is part of the Wardle Trust and is located in a semi-rural setting serving the Pennine communities of Wardle, Dearnley, Littleborough and Smithy Bridge, although a number of students also travel from Todmorden and Rochdale. The school is situated close to the M62, with quick and easy access to both Leeds and Manchester. We aim to provide an excellent all-round education within a safe environment of modern facilities and resources. Our dedicated team of high quality teaching and associate staff are committed to raising the attainment and aspirations of our young people above and beyond national averages.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Head of MFL who is a strong leader and will develop and challenge their team to ensure all students continue to be engaged and interested in learning a modern foreign language. You will have an absolute commitment to ensuring students are focused on achieving the best possible outcomes. This post represents an excellent opportunity for promotion. Ongoing CPD and the opportunity to participate in nationally recognised leadership programmes would be offered to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have the ability to plan effective lessons, using student data to inform planning and progression. You will also have high expectations of students, based on a sound knowledge of their prior and potential attainment. The Modern Foreign Languages Department is a rapidly improving department which has seen a significant increase in passes at GCSE grades A*-C (100% in French and 73.4% in Spanish- Summer 2016). Ensuring that we maintain and build on these improvements is a key focus area for the school. Collaboration and partnership work with other schools is already established in order to support further progress.
Whilst ensuring effective whole class, group or individual learning opportunities are available to students which engage and challenge all ability levels, you will set high standards of expectations of students’ behaviour through good classroom discipline, and reinforcing literacy skills within MFL lessons.
You will be joining Wardle Academy at an exciting time as we enter a period of rapid improvement on our way to becoming ‘Outstanding’ in the future.
At Wardle Academy we believe that every child has great potential and we want to work together, as a team, to ensure that every child has the opportunity to fulfil that potential. If you share this belief and would like to play a key role in enhancing the lives of our students, then we want to hear from you.
Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcomed.
