An outstanding Head of Section: Middle School is required from September 2021. This is an excellent opportunity for a superb candidate to join the Senior Management Team. The post-holder will have responsibility for all aspects of educational provision in the Fourth & Fifth (Y10/Y11) Form, and for the progress and development of around 300 pupils. They will lead a team of Heads of Year whilst overseeing the work of 13 tutors.  They will also contribute to strategic decision-making, bringing in new thinking and ideas to ensure that the Middle School experience at City prepares the pupils fully for Sixth Form and their lives beyond School. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a proven track record of pastoral and/or academic leadership, and proven experience of managing a team within an academic environment.

The School has a long-standing record of high academic achievement (92.5% of A Level and Pre-U entries gained A* to B/D1-M1 grades in 2019). There is also much happening in terms of co-curricular activities, and all staff are expected to be fully involved in School life.  

CLS was named by the Sunday Times as London Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020, and occupies fine, modern buildings near St. Paul’s Cathedral overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tate Modern. There are impressive off-site sports facilities in south east London. 


The salary will be over £70,000.
