This is an exciting opportunity to shape the delivery of Modern Foreign Languages at this outstanding school, as the governors seek to appoint an aspirational and enthusiastic curriculum leader. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a small but expanding team and use their expertise and skills to develop the department further.

In 2018 the school was ranked No 1 in North Yorkshire for pupil progress and is often in the top 1% of all schools nationally.

The last Ofsted Inspection highlighted the following:

• The exemplary behaviour of students makes an exceptional contribution to learning and is supportive of all. Behaviour is outstanding and reflects the school’s values

• SFX is an aspirational school where attainment is well above the national average. Pupils in all groups make outstanding progress from their various starting points.

We are looking to appoint someone who is keen to develop their leadership skills and advance their career and the successful candidate can expect to be well supported by the staff and senior leadership team.

Please note you do not need to be a regular attender at Church but you do need to be happy to support the Christian ethos of the school.

We are located close to the A1 and A66 and in commutable distance from York, Durham and Teesside. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and is consistently oversubscribed.  The school is a partner in both the Yorkshire Teaching School Alliance and the Diocese of Middlesbrough Teaching School Alliance and offers a comprehensive training programme for all teachers at all stages in their careers.

The school has an aspirational learning culture for all; our Ofsted report grades the school as outstanding and we are consistently amongst the top 100 performing schools in the country. We enjoy excellent facilities and our ethos fosters the very highest academic standards and a strong sense of community.

You are welcome to visit our school prior to application or to have an informal discussion with the Headteacher. Please contact Miss J Chapman, Headteacher’s PA, to book an appointment.

Application forms and further details are available on the school’s website:  www.sfxschool.org.uk

Completed application forms should be submitted to contact@sfxschool.org.uk

Closing date:  9.00am on Monday 24 February 2020

Interviews: w/c Monday 2 March 2020

Values and Vision

St Francis Xavier School is a church school that aims to inspire a love of god in each child, and shows a great level of pride in its students, who it considers to be fantastic ambassadors for the school.

While there are a lot of ways that the school shows its Christian faith, from its year group Eucharistic services, to its liturgies at Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year, St Francis Xavier is an educational environment that welcomes students of all other faiths and none to be part of its vibrant, friendly and supportive school community.

Ofsted

“St Francis Xavier is an outstanding school. It provides an environment where students are known well and cared for as individuals and where there is an emphasis on and expectation of high achievement. The curriculum ensures the excellent development of students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding and enables them to develop into confident and responsible young adults as they grow through the school. The behaviour of students is outstanding and reflects the school’s values.”
