Head of Modern Foreign Languages

As the Head of MFL, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, with responsibility for monitoring and evaluating student achievement, as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission. We currently offer three European languages: French, German, and Spanish to GCSE and A level.

The department offers a wide range of co-curricular activities including Film and Cooking Clubs as well as a vibrant mentoring programme. Planning and leading educational trips abroad and developing our exchange programme with our French partner school are expected, as they are an integral part of our student learning experiences.

About you

With experience of managing and supporting a team of staff to raise standards, you will be an advanced practitioner, who sets a standard that other teachers look to emulate. The ability and to teach Spanish to GCSE and A Level and another language, preferably French, to GCSE or higher is required.

You will be able to deliver lessons that inspire children to succeed and have a detailed knowledge of the English National Curriculum, as well as a commitment to the pursuit of excellence in education standards.

We are a British international school, and all of our lessons are taught in English. A high standard of written and spoken English is, therefore, essential. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including co-curricular activities.

As part of the selection process, longlisted candidates will be required to complete a Pre-recorded Micro-teach, that you will then submit to us. The recorded microteach should be 10 minutes in length of your continuous teaching (live in class). Further details will be provided.
