The School

Fettes Prep is one of the country’s finest boarding & day schools for boys and girls aged 7-13 and lies within the 100 acre Fettes College grounds in the heart of Edinburgh. The Prep School is housed 200m from the main Fettes College buildings and benefit from the College’s excellent facilities including a wide range of sporting facilities, theatre,  musical tuition and dining facilities . Due to expansion in the school roll, William House was completed in 2009 – a state-of-the-art teaching block with superb eco credentials.

The curriculum is structured to reflect the strengths of the Curriculum for Excellence, the National Curriculum of England and Wales and IAPS guidance.  A strong emphasis is placed on a sound and thorough grounding in the traditionally important subjects of Maths and English as well as specialists subjects such as Science, Art and Languages being taught by specialist teachers. Class sizes remain small to allow individual attention for each child – the absolute maximum class size is 18.

The HMIe inspection had superb results with both Fettes Prep and Fettes College deemed as ‘sector-leading’.

Life at Fettes Prep School is full of opportunities. Every child will experience specialist teaching, active music, drama and art, countless residential trips and competitive inter-school sport.

Fettes Prep is an exciting and creative place to teach and learn.
