Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, experienced and committed teacher to lead our MFL team from 1 September 2021. This follows the retirement of our current Head of MFL, who has been at Hampton High for more than 25 years.

The successful candidate will be joining our school at an exciting time. Students taking French or Spanish to GCSE have enjoyed considerable success. We are now committed to increasing the numbers taking French, German or Spanish to GCSE.

French is the language taught currently to all Year 7 students. Students will then follow either German or Spanish as a second language in years 8 and 9 (Our current year 8 students study two languages). Students will be strongly advised to follow at least one language to GCSE.

The candidate for this post should be able to offer French at KS3 and KS4, and the ability to offer either German or Spanish to at least KS3 would be desirable.

Hampton High was judged “good” by Ofsted in 2019 and has been oversubscribed for the past three years, with numbers increasing throughout the school monthly. We are passionate about the progress of all learners and have a comprehensive programme of professional development for all staff. All visitors to our school comment on the high standards of behaviour, high levels of student engagement in lessons and the warmth and pride with which students talk about their school. We would encourage you to read our Ofsted report prior to making an application. We also recommend that you look at the videos and information posted on our website under “open events” to get a real sense of who we are. We would also be very happy to arrange for you to visit our school, observing our social distancing and covid-safe measures. Should you like to visit the school, please contact Kirsty.martin@hamptonhigh.org.uk to arrange a tour and speak to the Headteacher.

Hampton High is a mixed, 11-18 comprehensive school and is part of the Richmond West Schools Trust.  The trust operates collaboratively with a group of local schools which are working in partnership to improve outcomes for learners locally.  H
