Thank you for taking the time to find out about Alperton Community School.  Alperton Community School is an exceptional school.  

We are a large, mixed, 11-18 academy with over 300 students in our sixth form.  Due to our increased popularity as a school, we will expand our roll from 8 to 10 form entry in September 2017.  Alperton Community School is proud to be an inclusive comprehensive school with a student intake that reflects a wonderfully diverse and vibrant local community.    Alperton is a popular shopping destination specialising in Asian food, fashion, music and is renowned for its cultural diversity and the remarkable Shri Sanatan Hindu Temple.   

Our most recent Ofsted rating in July 2016 recognised the school as Good with outstanding leadership and management.  

The school achieved its best ever set of GCSE results in 2016. The percentage of students achieving 5A*-C grades at GCSE has increased by 22% over the last three years and now stands at 66%. The school is ranked in the top 4% of schools nationally for student progress at GCSE (Progress 8), and ranked in the top 1% for maths and the top 9% for English.  Attainment is above national and Brent averages.  Student progress at A Level is in the top 10% of schools nationally (ALPS).   We are very fortunate to have opened a new school building in January 2017.  The new building has purpose-built specialist Drama, Music, Art and DT facilities, as well as 14 Science laboratories, 10 ICT rooms and a new MUGA.   

The Role Head of Music 

We are looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner and talented leader who has the vision and determination to lead our Music department to achieve outstanding outcomes for all our students. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead the Music department in our new school.

About Alperton Community School

Alperton Community School is a mixed, mainstream secondary school for 11- to 18-year-old students. Located in Wembley, north-west London, it has 1,362 students enrolled.  

Alperton Community School was founded in 1922 as Wembley County Grammar School. In 1967, three different schools were combined to form Alperton High School. Then, in the 1990s, the school took control of its own finances through the Local Management of Schools legislation and reopened as Alperton Community School.

Vision and values

Alperton Community School aims to provide an inclusive education that ensures every student reaches their full potential. Teachers want to help each pupil develop academically, physically, socially, morally and spiritually. The school works to mould students into responsible and active citizens. It has specialist status in maths and computing.   

The secondary school emphasises the core subjects, but also offers important vocational courses such as business, computing, design and technology, ICT, and health and social care. Alperton has been awarded the Sportsmark for excellence in curriculum provision in PE and has won national competitions in sport and music. Its well-rounded educational offering has enabled many pupils to go to university at Oxford, Cambridge and medical establishments.
