Established in 1960, the TENBY SCHOOLS GROUP (part of the British owned International Schools Partnership) operates international and private schools in peninsula Malaysia.

Tenby International School Setia EcoHill commenced operation in September 2016, offering an international, student-centred programme for students from Early Years up to Y11, focusing on the development of responsible learners who are both independent and creative thinkers. Both the Primary and Secondary schools are located on a 14-acre purpose-built campus, with a capacity for 1800 students, which is equipped with modern teaching and learning facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

The Head of Music is responsible for improving the quality of the learning and teaching of Music throughout the School. The post holder will be responsible for managing all activities relating to the Music specialism.

Job Summary:

The Head of Music will lead an ambitious Music programme to stretch and challenge our most able musicians while encouraging musical enjoyment for all.

We are looking for a strong performer, in the classroom and/or other platforms, a sense of imagination and a commitment to the role, who has a clear ambition and enthusiasm for Music, and will be fully involved in the life of the school.

The successful applicant also needs to have a love of Music of many different forms, a desire to encourage pupils to perform Music and to respond to it with enjoyment and understanding and motivation to work with pupils and young people.

S/he will lead by example to motivate and work with others, when implementing initiatives and managing change and will maintain the culture of inclusion within the school community where all views are valued and considered

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to get on with a wide range of people and to support and encourage musicians of all abilities.

Responsibilities:

· Responsibility for all aspects of curricular and co-curricular Music in the School

· Lead a vibrant and varied programme of co-curricular musical activities, bringing musical performance into the daily life of the school

· Play a crucial role in whole-school strategy and development in relation to Music

· Establish and implement an ambitious vision for the future of Music in the school

· Ensure a high profile for Music throughout the School

· Have an overview of the development of each child’s musical progression throughout their time at the school

· Lead the development and review of the Music curriculum including planning, assessment for learning, tracking and the development of a challenging and inclusive curriculum for all pupils

Requirements:

· A bachelor’s degree with teaching qualification or Degree In Education

· A minimum of 5 years teaching experience as Music Teacher

· Computer literate with good interpersonal skills

· Patient, caring, responsible and passionate about teaching

· A team player and flexible to meet the needs of the department.

Tenby International School – Setia Echohill is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, independent, all-through school with sixth form, in Malaysia, serving students from the age of 3-18. The all-through school is situated in Semenyih, Selangor. It belongs to the Tenby Schools Group, an expanding group of six international and Malaysian private schools across the country.

Tenby International School – Setia Echohill is the latest of the six schools, having opened in 2016. The building offers facilities including tennis courts, football fields, a swimming pool, art rooms, music rooms, a café and computer suites. Students are taught from a British inspired curriculum and  go on to study towards IGCSE exams and International A levels.
