Job overview

The Governors are seeking to appoint a committed and skilled teacher of Music, with a strong track record of effective management, to lead the Music Department. The successful candidate will join a dynamic school where inspirational leadership and hard work have transformed performance against every measure. Results in 2017 were outstanding both at GCSE and A Level. Consequently, in the National School Categorisation System for Wales, the school was graded 1A for Standards and Capacity to Improve. The school’s rapid progress has been recognised by the local community: in September record numbers are projected to join the Sixth Form and there is projected a 21% rise in the number of students joining Year 7. This success, combined with our stunning location and proximity to Chester and Liverpool, means we can provide truly exciting career development opportunity.

Mae’r Llywodraethwyr yn awyddus i benodi athro/athrawes Cerdd ymroddedig ac egnïol i arwain yr Adran.  Bydd yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus yn ymuno ag ysgol ddynamig lle mae arweinyddiaeth ysbrydoledig a gwaith caled ar draws yr ysgol wedi trawsnewid ei pherfformiad yn erbyn pob un o’r mesuriadau perfformiad. Cafwyd canlyniadau TGAU a Safon Uwch rhagorol yn 2017. O ganlyniad, dyfarnwyd Gradd 1A i’r ysgol am ei Safonau a’i Gallu i Wella o dan y System Genedlaethol ar gyfer Categoreiddio Ysgolion Cymru. Mae’r cynnydd cyflym y mae’r ysgol wedi’i wneud wedi cael ei gydnabod gan y gymuned leol: ym mis Medi, disgwylir i’r nifer fwyaf erioed o ddisgyblion ymuno â’r Chweched Dosbarth a rhagwelir cynnydd o 21% yn nifer y disgyblion a fydd yn ymuno ym Mlwyddyn 7.  Mae’r llwyddiant hwn, ynghyd â’n lleoliad trawiadol a’n hagosrwydd at Gaer a Lerpwl, yn golygu y gallwn ddarparu cyfleoedd datblygu gyrfa gwirioneddol gyffrous.

Estyn report

In many lessons, nearly all pupils recall prior learning effectively and build on this to make further progress and deepen their understanding. They use subject terminology confidently and make valuable progress in their subject knowledge and skills. In a few lessons, where pupils make exceptional progress, they apply newly gained knowledge and skills creatively. Many pupils listen attentively in lessons and are confident when speaking in class.”
