Stoke College is looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative Head of Music to lead and deliver an engaging music programme and curriculum which gives access to all students to develop their talent and appreciation of music.

Main responsibilities  (See applicant pack for more details)

To lead the music curriculum and teach music at Key stage 3, 4 and 5.

To establish and manage a high quality peripatetic team, providing an excellent and diverse programme of one-to-one instrumental and vocal lessons.

To collaborate with the Visual and Performing Arts team to support the annual musical theatre production, including the orchestration of the musical score, rehearsals and performances.

Co-run termly Music and Words Evening, and other whole school music and drama events

To support weekly assemblies and termly parent Church Services by providing opportunities for students to showcase their musical progress.

To inspire children to take up new musical instruments by giving them the opportunity for taster sessions and through engaging lessons.

Establish internal and external group musical performance opportunities e.g. orchestra, quartets and rock/pop bands.

Lead and develop the Stoke College Choir, with a regular performance programme at Church Services and other internal and external events.

Review requirements and prepare budget proposals for music equipment required to support an excellent music department.

Provide pastoral care and nurture the musical potential of all students of all abilities.

Provide academic reports and regular student feedback and parent/carer communications.
