Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and hard-working Outdoor Education practitioner to lead this important area of the wider curriculum and school life. They will have the responsibility for driving achievement and participation forward in outdoor learning as well as developing an enjoyment of the outdoors among the pupil body. The post holder will deliver a variety of trips and lead the delivery of the programme of curricular and wider-curricular sessions and trips. They will also have overall responsibility for the delivery of Duke of Edinburgh within the school. 

This is a permanent full-time position, though the nature of the role is such that flexible working hours are required in term time, at weekends and during school holidays. The working day includes provision of after school activities (16.30 – 18.15), which are offered in agreement with the Director of the Wider Curriculum. 

The post holder is ultimately accountable to the Bursar and will be line managed by the Director of the Wider Curriculum. 

Holiday and hours of work:

Paid holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus bank holidays, to be taken at times agreed with the Bursar.

Standard working hours are 37.5 hours Monday to Saturday, but the hours of work will be broadly determined by the requirements of the position.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including but not limited to checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Other: 

Free lunches are provided during term time.  Free parking is available on the School Campus and the successful candidate will be entitled to use The Leys' sports facilities at times designated for the use of staff.
