Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Head of PE to lead and manage our PE department across all phases of the school. You will provide leadership and guidance for excellent practice across the PE department to enable the effective development of the department, its pupils, and staff.

The ideal candidate should be able to teach a variety of sports with a passion for football and/or cricket. The sports and PE department offers GCSE so experience of teaching to this level would be essential.

The ability to liaise with and involve parents in their child's education is essential. It is important that the successful candidate will have good inter-personal skills, be willing to work as part of a team and fully committed to our extra-curricular programme.

If you are passionate about the life chances of young people and possess the expertise required to teach in an environment where children of mixed abilities excel, then we would love to hear from you.

PE and games are taught across all year groups and GCSE PE is offered as an option subject. All lessons are taught either on site or at our multi-use sports pitch or at the University of Wolverhampton’s world class sporting facilities which is a two-minute bus ride away. This facility has a multi-million pound Sports Centre, 12-court sports hall, sprint track, 20m x 10m swimming pool, tennis courts, and extensive sports fields.

Cognita Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
