Available for start January 2022 Head of Pedagogy (or earlier by agreement)

A rare opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced leader to lead Pedagogy within the school and foster the professional growth of teachers as a mentor, coach, and designer of professional learning, developing strategic professional learning plans that are aligned to The School’s strategic plan and impact positively upon teacher practice.   

Applicants for this role will ideally have:

A high level of proficiency in response both strategically and proactively to the changing education sector, lead innovation collaboration and model a positive approach to improving teaching and learning.

High level of proficiency in  teacher accreditation expertise, knowledge of how adults learn and differentiated pedagogical practice.

Exceptional rapport with children, parents, and staff to work collaboratively and creatively, ensuring the child is at the centre of the learning.

Postgraduate Qualifications in Education Management or Education Leadership

Proven pedagogical expertise and the ability to lead the School in teaching and learning and the development of teachers, collaboratively working with staff and other stakeholders to maintain and improve academic standards and set the professional learning culture. 

Working knowledge and understanding of independent and boarding school settings.


The Role 

The role will apply both summative and formative approaches to teaching and learning through the following:

a) the application of the national teaching standards as determined by AITSL and NESA, 

b) NESA and NSWAIS teacher accreditation processes

c) designing bespoke Scots professional learning programs approaches to teaching at The Scots School Albury, and set-up and conduct peer observation, mentoring, action planning, research, and collaboration.

d) Lead and orchestrate Professional Learning across the school in consultation with Exec.

e) Establish innovative and successful Pedagogical practices that reflect correct best practice.

The position requires a teaching role of approximately 0.8FTE.

The Scots School Albury is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational independent boarding school located in New South Wales, Australia. The school was established in 1972 from a merger of the Albury Grammar School and the Woodstock Presbyterian Girls School. In 2016 The Scots School Albury celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The school is Preschool - Year 12 with a current enrolment of approximately 525 students. Boarding is available for students between Years 7-12 with the Sellars House for boys and the Wilson House for girls.

Our Junior School is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP is a contemporary approach to education that is delivered in schools around  Australia and the world. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and as caring and informed global citizen. This programme ensures that our students are receiving an education that prepares them for success in a rapidly changing global environment.
