Job overview

Following a recent staffing restructure and curriculum review, Pakefield High School is pleased to be recruiting for the following position:

Pakefield students require staff who are:
kind and caring,
mature and sensible in their actions,
empathetic and understanding,
|committed to their job and can be relied upon
firm but not too strict,
staff who have good ideas about making school fun and safe and like working with young people.

We are seeking to recruit to this brand new role in our revised staffing structure. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide our young people with magical and innovative curricular and extra-curricular experiences. At Pakefield we value the importance of enabling students to have this range of opportunities to grow and mature in their own individual ways. It is expected that the Head of Performance will develop provision that allows students to express themselves and gain important life-skills through the subject areas of Art, Music and Drama, whilst ensuring that our students develop confidence, team-working, creativity and imagination. The post-holder will, working under the guidance of the newly-appointed Director of Learning for Creativity and Sport, take direct responsibility for the drama curriculum and also line-manage the Heads of Art and Music.

The new Senior Leadership Team is committed to creating an environment which encourages innovation and challenges existing practice by striving for continual improvement. Whilst this role will have clear accountability for the curriculum area, it is essential that all staff work together to share best practice and support new ideas that ensure our young people have the ability to achieve educationally, socially and personally and are in the best possible position to continue with their lives beyond High School. The job description for this role can be found on our website - www.pakefield.org.uk - along with the application form, an applicant brochure and a letter from the Headteacher. Pakefield High School is a newly-opened secondary school located in the town of Lowestoft, Suffolk. First opened in 2011, the school was formed following a large reorganisation of schools in the local area, with Pakefield High School initially inheriting the buildings of a former middle school. Later, the school moved onto a brand new purpose-built site, with capacity for around 900 students aged 11-16, average-sized for a school of this type. The school is co-educational, and offers a small amount of off-site provision for pupils with specific educational needs.

Values and Vision

Pakefield High School works hard in order to fulfil its comprehensive ethos, achieving this by offering a wide-ranging and engaging curriculum, along with proper recognition of the needs of individual students. The school provides guidance for older pupils in Key Stage 4 as to the kinds of options they have available to them post-16, be it further education or employment. The personal development of pupils is also carefully considered, with their social and emotional intelligence, as well as work ethic, going hand-in-hand with academic achievement.

Ofsted

“Pupils are making good progress and achieving well because they are taught well and their attitudes to learning are good. They enjoy the well-developed practical tasks provided in most lessons to help them learn. Teaching assistants provide skilled support to individual and small groups of pupils, often those who have additional needs or are at risk of falling behind, to ensure they move forward in their learning.”
