HEAD OF PERFORMING ARTS (MUSIC WITH DRAMA)

REQUIRED FOR APRIL 2020

ISI Inspection Report 2019

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Head of Performing Arts who will lead this new department forward with drive, initiative and a clear vision of how to develop music and drama at the college in its widest sense. Music is a popular subject at Bedstone College both academically and performance wise. Currently Drama is not on the curriculum as a standalone subject. However, Bedstone College has performance facilities which need re-energising. In particular, we are looking for a person with the energy and vision to introduce performing arts across the college.

Applications will be welcomed from experienced Heads of department, as well as high quality teachers who have not yet had the opportunity to run their own department. An ability to teach Music to A level is essential with an interest or ability to coach some drama an advantage. The successful applicant will be responsible for a flourishing performing arts department, delivering academic music lessons to all ages and abilities, a full and varied programme of performance opportunities and introduce drama as agreed with the SMT.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and thriving boarding school where you will be fully involved with co-curricular music and drama, numerous performing opportunities and the wider life of the school. Energy and a flexible approach to working hours are essential.

Bedstone has its own salary scale and the salary will be set according to qualifications and experience. The College participates fully in the DfE Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme. There are also generous fee concessions with respect to staff children being educated at the College.

An application form and Job Description can be obtained from the College website (click here ) or from  Ms Christine Preston, PA to the Head, Bedstone College, Bedstone, Shropshire SY7 0BG, (click here ) to whom completed applications should be returned.  Please also send a CV and letter of application of no more than 2 sides of A4.

Closing date for applications:  midday Monday 27th January 2020

It is anticipated that interviews will take place in the week beginning Monday 3rd February 2020.

Bedstone College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
