Job Description:

Thames British School is seeking an experienced and motivated Head of PE Department to join our team in Warsaw. As the head of PE, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the physical education curriculum and ensuring that all students receive the highest quality physical education.


Responsibilities:

  • Employ best practices as a teacher of physical education.
  • Lead and manage the PE department, providing guidance, support and training to Primary & Secondary teachers.
  • Develop and deliver a challenging and engaging physical education curriculum that meets the needs of all students, including those with learning needs.
  • Facilitate high departmental planning, teaching, assessment and feedback standards.
  • Monitor student progress and attainment, providing feedback and support to teachers to ensure that all students are making good progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and physical development of all students.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to build positive relationships and ensure that they are informed and engaged in their child's physical education.
  • Collaborate with other leadership team members to ensure that the school is delivering the best possible education to our students in physical education.
  • Support the managing director and HR department in interviewing candidates for the PE teaching positions.
  • Ensure that the PE team adheres to relevant school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, safeguarding, and child protection.


Requirements:


  • Full teacher certification in the UK or the applicant’s native country for Secondary Physical Education (i.e. Bachelor of Education, Degree and PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in teaching physical education, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role in an international school setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A deep understanding of the physical education curriculum, and a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Experience of delivering a broad and balanced physical education curriculum that meets the needs of all students, and an understanding of different teaching methodologies.
  • Experience of using data to monitor student progress and attainment, and the ability to use data to inform teaching and learning.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge programme or an English-style national curriculum is essential; familiarity with the IBDP programme is desirable.
