St. Aloysius’ College is a very successful inner city North Islington comprehensive school judged “Outstanding” in our March 2012 inspection. 

We are looking to appoint a full time Head of PE/Games for September 2018. The successful candidate will contribute to our extensive extra-curricular sports programme and to teach across the full 11-18 ability range. GCSE P.E., BTEC Level 3 and A Level P.E are all offered to our students along with core P.E. and Games.

The P.E. department runs a rich extracurricular programme and our sports teams in Football, Basketball and Handball have achieved national success in recent years. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will involve themselves fully in this programme. 

The school has recently been remodelled under the Building Schools for the Future programme and we now enjoy outstanding sports hall facilities.

We are very proud to have our own playing fields with tennis and squash courts which are used extensively for both curriculum and extracurricular activities.

The successful candidate will:

· Be a passionate and experienced Sports specialist with high standards, who relishes the opportunity to lead the department in developing competitive sporting opportunities and promoting ‘sport for all’ across the school.

· Have experience of teaching KS4-5 and be able to raise aspirations, expectations and achievement of all students regardless of ability.

A distinct advantage would be the ability to be able to deliver BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sports.

St Aloysius’ College was founded in 1879 by the Brothers of Mercy as a Roman Catholic Independent School, then passed to the De La Salle Brothers in 1960. St Aloysius’ College is privileged to be the oldest surviving foundation of its kind in the Archdiocese of Westminster.

Today, St Aloysius’ College is a comprehensive 11-18 Roman Catholic boys school and is proud of its Catholic tradition.
