Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA)

Mossbourne Community Academy opened its doors in 2004 as one of the country’s first academies. As the original ‘Mossbourne’ academy, MCA redefined expectations of what it is possible to achieve at a non-selective inner-city academy. With consistently exceptional exam results and ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgements, MCA is widely regarded as one of the best secondary academies in the country. Mossbourne Community Academy also has one of the most successful academic Sixth Forms in London.

Mossbourne Community Academy is renowned for its collaborative and friendly staff who are at the forefront of teaching and learning across the Mossbourne Federation. Our academy offers an inspirational working environment which nurtures the development of personal and professional excellence and enables both colleagues and students to be passionate about learning, curiosity and aspirational achievement.

Set within the metropolitan borough of Hackney, MCA is in close proximity to London Overground stations, providing a no-fuss commute for colleagues living in other London boroughs. London’s fashionable ‘East and West Ends’, are also only a short distance away.

The Mossbourne Federation

The Mossbourne Federation is a thriving network of Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form academies providing the children of Hackney and Thurrock with an outstanding education from Early Years to Post-16. We value continuous improvement, are always learning, and we are always looking for a better way to do things. We are a supportive family that shares experiences, knowledge, and ideas in an environment that welcomes input and challenge.

We do not discriminate in recruitment or during employment based on any protected characteristic or aspect of individual identity. We have committed to being an Anti-Racist organisation and we welcome individuals with the ethos and energy to help us achieve this goal. We actively reject discrimination in our academies through continuous review of our working policies and practices across the federation, including at board level. We are committed to developing and supporting inclusivity, diversity, and anti-racism in every facet of what we do.

The Mossbourne Ethos

The Mossbourne Federation is the realisation of Sir Clive Bourne’s dream to provide the children of Hackney with an outstanding education. Since 2004, the Federation has nurtured Sir Clive’s dream by fostering kind, courteous, hard-working, and well-rounded learners by providing an outstanding education based on the core values of ‘Excellence’, ‘No Excuses’ and ‘Unity’. Through upholding these core values, Mossbourne’s London schools have built a reputation for being, without exception, exceptional.

We are delighted that on 1st January 2025, Mossbourne expanded to include three new academies in Thurrock, Essex.

The Federation’s calm working atmosphere creates well-rounded individuals who excel in the arts, on the sporting field and academically. All learners, regardless of ability, benefit from the innovative and enlightened approaches to teaching and learning within The Mossbourne Federation.
