Salary Grade: MPS/UPS plus TLR 2.2 £5,021

Contract: This is a full-time, permanent contract 

Start Date: 1st January 2024 (or sooner if available)

An enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Head of Physics is required to join a thriving and successful curriculum area.

The successful candidate will share in our vision for Catholic Education as part of a successful and experienced Media department, which is committed to raising academic standards for all students whilst supporting the spiritual and moral development of the whole person.

The Science department is both innovative and supportive with a history of strong results at KS4 and 5, focused on inspiring children to reflect, learn and achieve.

St John Plessington Catholic College Voluntary Academy has been an oversubscribed 11-18 college for more than 10 years. We have recently been designated a Teaching School Hub. 

We are looking for a Head of Department who: 

• Wants to transform children’s lives and develop a love of Media
• Can be accountable for student progress and development within the subject area
• Is an excellent classroom practitioner
• Can effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the department to support the designated subject portfolio
• Can lead a department and develop and enhance the teaching practice of others
• Work well with staff and students alike
• Are looking to join a community of schools that promotes the formation of young people into successful citizens
• Are interested in developing their practice and committed to their own professional development
