Sherrardswood is an independent, co-educational school based in 28 acres of beautiful woodland by the river Mimram.

Sherrardswood School, founded in 1928, is a highly regarded and successful independent co-educational day school with approximately 300 pupils aged 2 to 18. Our location and beautiful grounds provide the ideal setting for creating a secure and happy atmosphere, which encourages each child to develop their gifts and unlock their potential.

We seek a Head of Prep School who is able to teach to an excellent standard, and work to continue to develop our strong relationships with parents and wider members of the school community…

With small class sizes, we are a school where everyone knows and values one another. Our focus is truly on the individual child and their own, personal endeavour.

We encourage each child to develop as an individual in a friendly but purposeful learning environment, combining a high standard of academic education with a variety of extra-curricular sports and activities.

As Head of Prep, you will:

  • Help to implement the budget, overseeing and monitoring the use of resources and equipment.
  • Liase with the Head, helping to ensure that we are able to attract as larger number of pupils as possible.
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ensure that Prep School lessons continue to be engaging, and developed to the best standard to encourage pupil development.
  • Help to oversee the development of extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in Open Days, and parent walk around, giving parents and prospective pupils the best possible feel of the school.
  • Mentor members of our Prep School Team, and conduct performance appraisals.
