Overall Responsibilities of the Head

 

  Subject to the above the Head as Chief Executive of the School shall use his/her utmost endeavours to promote the interests and reputation of the School and any Subsidiary or Associated Company.

 

     Within the general policy and the financial limits from time to time approved or laid down by the Governors and in accordance with the Articles of Association of the School and relevant legislation, the Head shall be responsible to the Governors for the overall management of the

School, the financial performance of the School, the maintenance of good discipline, the setting of the curriculum and the direction and quality of the teaching.

 

     The Head shall advise and assist the Governors of the School in the exercise of their functions.

 

     By means of his/her written report submitted before each meeting of the Governing Body, the Head shall have the duty to keep the Governors informed of the state of the School, its present and projected numbers, the academic progress of pupils, sporting activities, the qualities and deficiencies of the staff to perform their duties to the satisfaction of the Governors, and of any other matters on which the Governors may require or seek information or ought to know.

 

     The Head of Prep School is responsible to the Principal for the leadership and management of Prep. He or she is a key member of the whole School Senior Management Team (SMT) and attends SMT meetings as required.

Located in the town of Oswestry, Shropshire, Moreton Hall is an all-through school with a Sixth Form for pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. The school was founded in 1913 in an Elizabethan manor house. Boys are accepted up to Year 8. 

Values and vision

Moreton Hall aims to provide a high standard of education by following a tailored curriculum. It offers a nurturing environment that allows girls to grow and excel, personally and academically. Pupils are able to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities on the school grounds. The principal believes the aim of the school is to “stretch the most able and support the least confident”. Teachers are there to inform and guide students to be lifelong learners.

“The curriculum is supported by an appropriate policy, detailed schemes of work and plans. It provides particular breadth in modern languages. Those with individual needs are identified carefully so that all pupils can learn and make progress. Pupils’ personal development is supported through personal, social, health and citizenship education. This encourages pupils to respect others and listen to their views. Teaching provokes a wide range of activities in class which develop pupils’ understanding.”
