The successful candidate will drive forward the vision for developing and growing our recently opened Primary provision within the school. You will have an outstanding track record, be ambitious and solution focused and want to work as part of the visionary Senior Leadership team.

Hopewell is an independent special school for children and young people age 5 to 18 who have an EHCP for complex social, emotional, mental health and learning needs.

We provide child centred specialist education and therapeutic support across our two sites the school based in Dagenham and our vocational centre motorvations@hopewell in Romford.

The successful post holder will be responsible for working alongside the SLT to ensure that the Primary provision and your small staff team provide outstanding educational experiences that meet the individua needs of our very special young people.

The successful candidate will have experience at middle or senior leader level both in working strategically as well as alongside young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. You will have an understanding of the complexities involved in planning their education, supporting their wellbeing, managing their emotions and addressing challenging behaviours and how the impact of trauma effects learning.

 The post holder will lead on school wide training relating to the primary curriculum – as well as literacy development and be an ambassador for positive behaviour support, working in partnership with pupils, staff, families and external agencies.

The successful candidate will be required to:

·      Have previous experience of a middle or leadership role within a primary setting 

● Have previous experience of outstanding teaching in an SEMH setting

● Have a passion for working with young people with complex SEMH needs;

● Promote the school vision and ethos

● Have a commitment to an integrated, therapeutic approach and ethos; 

● Be very flexible and adapt quickly to change
