About the School

BSQ is Ecuador's only truly British international school, where the English National Curriculum is taught with strong links to local language and culture. Our curriculum is student-centred, so that each individual can reach their full potential.

British School Quito is a foundation, with the sole purpose of providing education. We are an IB World School, accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools. We are licensed and accredited by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education. The school is located in the beautiful Cumbaya valley to the East of Quito and 20 minutes from the airport, a remarkable and wonderful place to live and learn. The Early Years, Primary and Secondary sections are all on one campus, which has rich local flora and fauna – hummingbirds are daily visitors to most areas. The school has an ICT lab, science laboratories, art and music facilities, a cafeteria, playgrounds, swimming pool and a sports field. We have a central library with an auditorium area for assemblies and productions.

The school forms part of the Orbital Education group, an expanding group of international schools providing a British Education to an internationally diverse student population.  In addition to our school in Quito, the Orbital group have schools in other culturally attractive and historically important destinations, such as Spain, Hungary, Russia, Shanghai, Slovenia and the Middle East, with exciting plans to develop schools in new regions across the globe.  As part of the Orbital group, our staff have the opportunity to work and collaborate with colleagues around the world, supporting them to achieve excellent outcomes and enabling their students to achieve their potential.  After two or more years’ successful employment, staff also have the opportunity to be considered for roles at other schools within the group, giving them the opportunity to see the world at the same time as progressing their career.

Our staff are UK qualified and have a rich range of experiences and talents. Our families are supportive and share the high ambitions of the leadership team for the school.
BSQ has already built its reputation on high quality and high standards and as such it has similarly high expectations of its staff.   The school therefore welcomes fully qualified, flexible, creative, student-centred teachers who will further enhance the quality of teaching and learning and also be prepared to contribute to the extra-curricular life of this busy school. Applicants are invited from teachers currently working in the UK maintained or independent school sectors and from those already posted overseas.

Applicants must have a relevant Bachelor degree from a reputable UK University, Qualified Teacher Status, with either a PGCE or BEd from the UK.  You should have previous teaching and management experience in a maintained, independent or international British style primary school, and experience of teaching the EYFS programme, English National Curriculum or IB courses as applicable to role.  Applications from fluent native-level speakers of English are preferred.
