Garden International School seeks a Head of Primary to commence in August 2020. We are looking to appoint a talented and ambitious leader. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving and well-established school.
Garden International School is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the Thai Ministry of Education (ONESQA). We are affiliated to the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) and the Department for Education in the United Kingdom. We are also a founder member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).
Garden International School is a coeducational school of around 450 students, with classes from Early Years to Year 13. We have approximately 40 nationalities represented in our community and use an educational framework based on the English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Many of our students have English as a second, or even third, language; these students are supported by a strong English Language Support department which works effectively to help them reach required levels of proficiency. We have a small boarding facility, and the school has a wonderful sense of community. Class sizes are generally small, with the students well motivated, engaged in their learning and supported by their families.
We are looking for an energetic, innovative and passionate leader (likely to be an existing Head or Deputy) who can build on the current successes and lead the primary school through the next phase of its development. We are looking for a leader who has a track record of raising standards, an eye for detail and is a real team player. The ability to manage change, to develop teams, to embed accountability yet to maintain a sense of fun would all be assets in this role. We need someone who can think strategically, sets high expectations for themselves and the students, yet can also roll up their sleeves and help out when needed. International school experience, as well as experience of leading within an Early Years to Year 6 Primary School setting, is highly desirable.

The cost of living is very reasonable and teachers tend to avail themselves of high quality holiday experiences around the region.

- Annual end of contract bonus
- Baggage allowance (for Overseas Hire Contracts)

Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. Appointed teachers from the United Kingdom are required to provide, at their own cost (of about GBP 60), and before travel arrangements are confirmed, an International Child Protection Certificate (UK) (refer: http://www.acro.police.uk/ICPC/). Full police clearance, covering at least the previous 10 years, is necessary for all appointees who are working, or who have worked, in countries outside the United Kingdom. To assist newly appointed staff, there is a country by country check list for the procedures for obtaining a police clearance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants
Leaders who would like to experience the rewards of working at Garden International School should send a statement of application, of no more than two pages highlighting their strengths as a leader and how those strengths will benefit our school, a full Curriculum Vitae (including photograph) and the names and email addresses of three professional referees through the TES Apply Now system.
Early applications are encouraged and applications will be assessed as they arrive. We reserve the right to close the selection process early should an exceptional candidate be identified at an early stage.
