South Hampstead High School is seeking a committed and energetic Psychology practitioner with a strong record to lead a lively Psychology department for one year only to cover a period of maternity leave.
You will lead and manage the Psychology department and teach A-level Psychology (AQA Specification) to Sixth Form students in both Year 12 and Year 13, promoting excellence in teaching and learning to ensure all pupils develop their potential and are equipped for life beyond school.
The members of the Psychology Department regularly discuss and employ a variety of teaching methods in order to meet the aim of encouraging the girls to feel engaged, challenged and supported in their studies. Students achieve very good results in Psychology. Last year 36% of students attained A* grades, 81% A*-A and 100% A*-B and we also usually have around 45% of our students going on to study Psychology further each year.
We welcome applications from experienced practitioners with the ability to lead and manage a team. Qualified teacher status is desirable but not essential.
