Job overview

We are looking for a well-qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teacher to lead our Psychology Department, from September 2018.   

The successful candidate will teach our highly motivated A level students as a joint subject with the boys from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.   We aim to provide a lively and supportive environment where discussion and debate are encouraged.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with talented pupils and dedicated staff.  

The position is full time and temporary to cover maternity leave until the end of the autumn term in the first instance. Salary is MPS/UPS + a Management & Responsibility Allowance.   The Teachers’ Pension Scheme is also applicable.  

As part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.

Wakefield Girls' High School, a selective independent school for girls aged 11-18, first opened its doors in 1878, at a time when the educational and social emancipation of women was accelerating. It occupies an extensive site in a conservation area near the centre of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The school became independent in 1982. 

Wakefield Girls' High School forms part of the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation group of schools. Some teaching in Years 12 and 13 takes place jointly with Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, the boys' school in the foundation.
