We are seeking to appoint a talented, experienced and highly effective member of staff to the post of Head of Pupil Care. If you are an external candidate and can teach any of the following subjects to key stage 4: English, Mathematics or Humanities (e.g. PSE/Citizenship), then we welcome your application. Most of all, we are looking for a talented educator with a big heart who shares our commitment to excellence and achieving the very best for all our pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced qualified teacher to become part of the Garth Hill Team. 

The successful candidate must be proactive in their approach and be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and sensitivity. The appointed person will be able to translate their own high expectations to others through their daily practice, and through professional development activities, on a regular basis. 

The main purpose of the role is to help ensure our young people thrive in a safe and caring environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of key professionals and parents/carers and make a difference to the lives of our young people. Previous extensive pastoral management experience is essential. The successfully appointed person will: 

  • Lead on pupil care, personal development and well-being across the whole college, including arranging support and intervention for key pupils and providing the relevant professional information, advice and guidance to our Heads of House and other pastoral staff. 
  • Plan and manage induction and transition arrangements between curriculum years/phases including year 6.
