Head of Religious Studies to start April or September 2018 – MPS 1-6 or UPS plus TLR 1A

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Head of Religious Studies (RS) to join our effective, hardworking and supportive RS Department from April or September 2018. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Teacher and members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the continued success of the department. The Head Teacher and Governors are keen to support a candidate whose commitment will lead to growth in an area which is seen as crucial in the student’s development. The post requires personal commitment of a high level and will offer a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of this flourishing College. This is a protected post and requires the successful candidate to be a practicing Catholic.

The Head of RS will be responsible for leading the department into the next stage of its on going journey and development. This will involve the department reviewing the Key Stage three curriculum, and continuing to embed the new specifications at Key Stage 4 and 5. We are studying the EDUQAS Route B GCSE and OCR A Level focused on Philosophy, Theology and Ethics. In addition, the role of the Head of RS is to support the department in developing outstanding teaching and learning to ensure the curriculum is delivered in a way that engages and inspires our students. An aspect of innovating informed teaching and learning within the department is AFL. Therefore, a key role of the Head of RS is leading the team in developing AFL strategies to inform planning. This work will involve supporting the college’s journey in developing KS3 assessment post levels. The Head of RS is also responsible for supporting the college chaplain through acting as her line manager and further developing the Lasallian spiritual life of the college community.
