This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop a service that delivers a holistic and collaborative approach to supporting speech and language impaired children and young people at this Ofsted “Outstanding” rated Special School and College (7-19 years).


Owing to the retirement of the current post holder, we are looking for an experienced and inspirational Head of Care to lead a dedicated team of Residential Care staff. The successful candidate will provide strong, operational leadership to ensure our young people enjoy living in a safe and happy environment whilst developing their life skills and independence. As a key member of the Senior Management Team you will contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic vision, while driving forward continuous improvement in this outstanding residential provision. 

You will also demonstrate a highly developed awareness of child development, adolescence, family dynamics, and challenges associated with children and young people with language and communication difficulties. You will need to be able to use your exceptional organisational skills, to ensure the efficient running of the service.  A calm manner and the ability to think clearly and decisively whilst under pressure are essential for this key role. Your excellent people skills will enable you to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the field of Residential Care.

Additionally, you will be qualified to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent in Leadership and Management for Care Services and have experience of managing care staff within an Educational or similar setting. A 

detailed knowledge of the National Minimum Care Standards and the Ofsted Social Care Common Inspection Framework are also essential for achieving success within the role.
