Aspengrove School invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of School.

Located on a beautiful 40 acre campus just north of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Aspengrove School provides a tight-knit community for young people to explore and become their very best selves, in an atmosphere that challenges students’ imaginations, and instills a lifelong love of learning. One of only twelve IB World Schools across Canada, Aspengrove is a co-educational, independent school, providing approximately 300 students from junior kindergarten to grade 12 with a holistic education that is committed to the critical thinking, inquiry-based approach of the International Baccalaureate. The three fully accredited programs (Primary Years, Middle Years, and the Diploma Programme) are delivered by dedicated faculty and staff through a broad program of academics, performing arts, physical education, outdoor education, and community service. The School provides a teaching and learning environment grounded in excellence and innovation, developing its students into conscientious, critical thinkers, and principled global citizens.

Reporting to the School’s Board of Governors, the Head of School has overall responsibility for the academic and administrative leadership of the School. Through refining and executing on the 2017-2027 Strategic Plan, leading and advising on longer term strategic direction, and attracting, supporting, developing, and retaining the very best faculty and staff, the new Head of School will ensure that Aspengrove stays innovative and continues to offer transformational learning, while nurturing and enhancing the deep sense of community that members of the Aspengrove family so cherish. As the face of Aspengrove, the Head of School will ensure that it is a priority to engage, educate, communicate, and build enduring relationships with its internal and external communities.

The new Head of School will be a well-rounded and respected educational leader, with the ability to provide inspiration, support, and leadership to the entire community. They will have significant administrative experience earned in a school environment, and a passion for the education of children across all grades. The Head will be strategic, innovative, and visionary, with an interest in philanthropy and in the development of a young and vibrant school. The new Head will possess a collegial style that allows them to connect with all members of the Aspengrove community, and above all, will be a person of character, principles, warmth, and humour.
