Located on a beautiful 42-acre campus in the heart of the town of Newmarket, 45 kilometers north of Toronto, Pickering College provides each student with an individual, innovative learning experience within an enriching and supportive environment built on trust and respect. Founded in 1842 as a Quaker School, Pickering College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school with an enrolment of approximately 430 students, of which 120 are boarders. Quaker values continue to guide the School, and its history is an important part of Pickering College’s culture. The School’s bespoke Global Leadership Program – fully integrated from junior kindergarten through to grade 12 – prioritizes the education and development of the whole child through a student-centred, inquiry-based approach that encompasses academic excellence, co-curricular distinction, and character and leadership development. Reporting to the School’s Board of Directors, the Head of School has overall responsibility for the academic and administrative leadership of Pickering College. Through executing on the School’s current strategic priorities, leading and advising on longer-term strategic direction, overseeing new infrastructure projects, fostering a culture of philanthropy and alumni engagement, and attracting and retaining the very best faculty and staff, the new Head of School will ensure that Pickering College stays innovative and continues to offer transformational learning. The Head will continue to nurture the deep sense of community and the values that members of the Pickering College family treasure. As the face of the School, the Head will build and sustain enduring relationships with both internal and external constituencies. 

The new Head of School will be a well-rounded and respected educational leader, with the ability to provide inspiration, support, and leadership to the entire community. They will have significant administrative experience earned in a school environment, a track record of moving complex initiatives forward, and a passion for the education of children across all grades. The Head will be strategic, innovative, and visionary. They will be keen to learn about and embrace the School’s traditions and values. The new Head will possess a collegial style that allows them to connect with all Pickering College stakeholders, and above all, will be a person of character, principles, warmth, and humour.
