The Role

International School Ikast-Brande has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an outstanding and international-minded leader to steer the school forward. Recently, at the school´s tenth anniversary, we celebrated 10 years of successful development and growth. We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic new Head of School to continue to build upon the school´s tremendous success to date. Key objectives include education quality and outcomes thereof, student well-being, school growth, staff development and sustainable financial targets. The right applicant will have the drive and vision to enhance student achievement and have the interpersonal skills required to work with the staff and all members belonging to a diverse school. The Head of School we are seeking will be highly visible and approachable. A source of inspiration, innovative and focused on enhancing our students’ education, academic achievement and well-being. He or she will be a robust decision-maker, always having students at the heart of decision making. The right candidate will be an outstanding manager of people, with the capacity to motivate and empower the staff. 

The School

International School Ikast-Brande opened in 2009 and quickly became the leading international school in the area. This role offers a unique opportunity to assume leadership of a first-class, well-established international school. Located in the Heart of Denmark in purpose-built facilities of outstanding architectural quality, the school is committed to providing high quality international education to families moving to Denmark and parents from the surrounding area seeking a more international education for their children. The Cambridge International Curriculum, combined with the International Primary Curriculum is our point of academic reference. Currently, the student population is approximately 200 from the ages of 3 to 17, coming from more than 15 different countries and nationalities providing a rich cultural environment. Our students are highly motivated and extremely positive about our school. We encourage our students to find the balance between academic success and a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle. We instil in our students from a very early age the principles of right and wrong, an understanding of various cultures and an appreciation of new views, allowing them to make good decisions. 

Denmark and Ikast

Denmark is an extremely open and friendly country with a diverse selection of activities. Ikast is located in the centre of the country with many transport links including Billund airport. Denmark is a safe environment and Ikast's small community feel is the ideal place for a family or an exciting new adventure for travellers. Denmark and the Ikast area have many International forums and groups to help newcomers settle and meet people, the school also has a parent circle who create a social atmosphere to help integrate new members of the society.

Interviews will take place by Skype in early January, with the final interviews in Ikast in late January. The ISIB Board reserves the right to appoint an appropriate candidate in advance of this schedule.  All applicants will receive an acknowledgement response and successful applicants will be informed about the first stage interviews to be held by Skype or in Ikast. The final selection process will be held in Ikast the week commencing 20th January 2020.

About International School Ikast-Brande

International School Ikast-Brande is a small school, but a big family! With a highly diverse intake of about 200 students, representing over 30 nationalities, we are able to offer individual attention to every student, and a safe, nurturing environment in which children and teenagers can learn, grow, and discover.

A non-profit international school for children aged 2 to 16, ISIB is located in Ikast, at the heart of Denmark's beautiful Jutland region. In August 2013 the school moved into a new, purpose-built building, which houses students from Early Years to Year 11, as well as the after-school programme. The building is located next to the Hjertet ('Heart'), a state-of-the-art facility which offers additional classrooms, a reflection room, a spacious sports hall and a multi-purpose hall.

International School Ikast-Brande delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum. The admissions process includes an application form and interview. We are an inclusive and non-denominational school. Places are offered on the basis of age, demonstrated academic history, and previous grades.
