Job overview
Head of School
Moon Hall School, Dorking
Moon Hall School Dorking opened in September 1985 and is part of the Moon Hall Schools Educational Trust. We are an Independent mainstream school which is in a unique position to offer immersive Dyslexia Specialist Teaching within a classroom setting.
Our ambition is that Moon Hall Schools Educational Trust continues on its pathway as a centre of excellence – not only providing children with a specially tailored curriculum to meet their dyslexic needs, but with the personal skills, confidence and qualities that will equip them to successfully navigate the next step through to our sister school Moon Hall Reigate to complete their GCSE’s. Our schools aim is carried out each day in every classroom; ‘Understanding the difference, making the difference’.
We are looking for an experienced senior leader to take on the role of Head of School, who can help shape the future developments within the school and work in partnership with an experienced team of senior leaders within the Trust. This is an exciting position that would suit either an experienced and ambitious Middle Manager or current Deputy headteacher with a proven track record of success.
The Trust is split over two sites; Reigate and Dorking and boasts two beautiful locations set within the Surrey hills. The successful applicant would be based at our School in Dorking, would be responsible for the day to day running of this school site and expected to liaise closely with the Executive Head who is based at Reigate. However, it is not the facilities that make a school, it is the community and we are extremely proud of the children, their families and the team of teachers and supporting adults who make this a very special place to work.
Moon Hall Schools Educational Trust
The Moon Hall Schools Educational Trust believes our schools have a moral imperative to create the best educational provision that they can in order to serve the needs of their pupils effectively, now and in the future. The Trust has primary and secondary provision. Dorking accepts pupils from years 3 to 6 and Reigate from years 3 to 11. We are experienced and successful in supporting the pupils in both of our schools to meet their Dyslexic needs. We believe we have a unique position in the educational sector where as part of our admissions process we expect all pupils to have Dyslexia as their primary need.
What we believe
The Trust has one overarching aim: to provide high quality education to meet the needs of our dyslexic pupils. It requires the adults in the school community to be aware of each individual’s needs and how to meet them on a daily basis, and it expects the children in the community to show effort and application. This is achieved in a variety of ways according to the context of each school but within the clear framework established by the Trust.
Each school has a strategic plan that responds to the Trust’s central aim, values and operations: a strategy that delivers strong outcomes, outstanding pastoral care, above expected progress, a great learning and working environment, a financially viable organisation and an outward-facing philosophy.
Visits and Applications
