Job overview

The Sheiling Ringwood is seeking a Head of School with the experience, vision, drive and motivational skills to build upon the current ‘Good’ grade (Ofsted 2014) and work towards ‘Outstanding’.

Based on Steiner education principles working in harmony with current SEND best practice and standards, Sheiling School provides a student-centred approach to students across our education and residential settings.

Whilst leading the education provision for our 6-19 year old students who have severe, complex and moderate learning difficulties and disabilities, you will also play a key role as a member of the Leadership Team in shaping the strategic direction of the Sheiling Special Education Trust as a whole which includes a Children’s Home and a residential College for students aged 19 – 25.

The successful candidate will bring to Sheiling School:-

  • Inspirational leadership to the school and therapy teams
  • Extensive experience and ‘know-how’ regarding approaches, methodology and assessment of the education and therapy needs of SEND students
  • A passion for the work and for meeting of needs to ensure positive outcomes for all
  • Equal capacity in the development and leadership of strategic direction as well as the day-to-day school and operational matters
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with which to forge strong collaborative relationships with students, staff, colleagues, families and other stakeholders
  • Proven expertise in key areas such as positive behaviour management, ICT and Safeguarding

Qualified to post-graduate level in relevant areas of SEND teaching and learning and ideally experienced in more than one SEND setting which includes leadership or senior management responsibilities, you’ll have a track record in generating continuous improvement and proven expertise in highly successful management of staff performance.

Situated within a beautiful 50 acre estate providing a rich resource to aid the learning and development of students, The Sheiling Ringwood provides a high standard of education in a well established Camphill School, Children’s Home and College. Our passion for learning is not restricted to our students and we provide opportunities for all our staff, whatever their role and level of seniority, for continuous self-development.

Interviews will be held on 14th and 15th March 2016
