In January 2017, City of Westminster College and the College of North West London announced their intention to merge with a vision to deliver the highest quality education and training opportunities for students and employers across West and Central London, and beyond.

The College is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated educational professional to the post of Head of School for Additional Learning Support. The role will involve managing a team of teachers and Learning Support Assistants to ensure that students with learning difficulties and disabilities are able to access mainstream provision and achieve their full potential. The role will include a substantial amount of liaison with Local Authorities and managing statutory obligations under the SEND Code of Practice.

As well as a degree (or equivalent) and recognised teaching qualification, you will have experience of working in the relevant sector. You must possess a recognised specialist qualification in dyslexia or other area of SEN - or be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of SEN. You will also have an understanding of the current legislative issues surrounding SEND, dyslexia and disability support and provision of support for High Needs Students including funding requirements and EHCP consultations.

For all positions, successful candidates will be expected to teach on a range of subjects and programmes across the subject spectrums including AS and A levels, BTEC National and key skills, up to and including Level 3. Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are essential for all roles. You must also have a firm commitment to widening participation and equality of opportunity for all.

You will hold a hold a relevant degree qualification (or equivalent). You must possess a recognised Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or display a willingness to work towards achieving this.
