About the role:

We are seeking an outstanding Head of School for Health and Community Services to provide leadership and direction for teaching, learning and assessment, curriculum development and the provision of a high quality learner experience within the area of Community Services. This includes Health and Social Care, Public Services, Access, Counselling and Supported Learning. You will lead the development and delivery of an innovative and visionary curriculum, ensuring that the curriculum portfolio is effectively managed, developed, reviewed and consistently improved. You will act as first line manager for allocated staff, ensuring that staff are effectively managed, deployed and developed and that the College’s strategic and operational targets are achieved. You will ensure that employability and entrepreneurial opportunities are central to the student offer.

About you:

With degree or equivalent and qualified teacher status, you will have extensive quality teaching and tutorial experience especially with the 14 – 19 and 19+ age groups, both in full time education and employment. You will have the ability to deliver consistently good or better teaching, learning and assessment and a proven track record of developing teams to plan and deliver an excellent learning experience. You will have successful management experience of curriculum teams and evidence of having led on change/curriculum innovation, especially in relation to vocational provision. You will have the ability to work in and to lead teams, to motivate, train staff, and to inspire students.

This exciting development will help secure City and Islington’s future at the forefront on skills training in London and widen opportunities for both its staff and students.
