Job overview

Head of School

The West Grantham Academy St John’s

Required for January 2018

Salary Range/Grade: Leadership Point 15 to Leadership Point 20 (£55,049 to £62,240)

The West Grantham Academy John’s is designated a Church of England primary academy serving approximately 322 students, Nursery to year 6, living in the surrounding catchment area.

Following a critical Ofsted report in February 2017, the academy was placed in special measures. It is currently supported by an NLE and EOS Education as it addresses the Post-Ofsted Action Plan. During the academy’s transition, staff and the Board of Directors (governing body) are committed to improving the quality of teaching and learning and raising standards.

You will lead the team at The West Grantham Academy John’s in supporting all its students to make outstanding progress. This is a critical role as the  academy goes through a period of significant change.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with our Trust to improve the quality of education provided at the school and ensure its future success. As Head of School, you will be working with a strong Trust Board, Executive Headteacher and a strong leadership team and you will liaise closely with the Executive Headteacher within the Trust. Consequently, you are not expected to undertake this task on your own but, equally, leaders and governors can’t do this  without the right person as Head of School in place.

For further information about the role and to complete an online application form please click on the link http://www.wgacademiestrust.org.uk/page/?title=CURRENT+VACANCIES&pid=144 or visit www.wgacademiestrust.org.uk.  The closing date is 5.00 pm on Sunday 15 October 2017 and interviews will take place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 October 2017.

We would welcome the opportunity to talk to you and show you around the academy and we invite you to contact Julie Swatton, Clerk to the Board of Directors, on 01476 589261 or by email to julie.swatton@wgacademy.org.uk.

The West Grantham Academy St John’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required prior to appointment.

Our pupils at Bluecoat Meres Primary Academy approach their work in a happy and enthusiastic manner. The principle aim of the academy is to enable all children to learn and to reach their full potential throughout their time with us. We believe in fostering the holistic development of the child and we are committed to helping pupils to become lifetime learners. In order to achieve this the academy sets clear expectations in terms of behaviour and work ethic. All of our staff are committed in helping the pupils achieve and flourish in aspects of school life.

We provide an interesting, stimulating curriculum that responds to the needs of different learning styles and learners’ different needs. We promote perseverance and independence in all lessons. We continually celebrate and share our pupils’ successes. You can find out more about the curriculum by clicking on our year group pages. We also endeavour to equip pupils with the skills to become valuable members of the local community and to have aspirations for their futures.

We believe that parental partnership is vital to ensuring the well-being and academic success of pupils. Parents and carers are an essential component of our school community. Parents can help support their children in their learning to re-enforce the work done at school.
