We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of School at our Broomhill Bank (West) site in Tunbridge Wells.

Broomhill Bank is a highly successful coeducational special residential and day school for students aged 11 to 19, with Statements of Special Educational Need or Education, Health and Care Plans relating to Communication, Interaction and Learning difficulties.

Broomhill Bank operates as one school, but it is situated on two sites across two Kent Districts:

  • Tunbridge Wells – Broomhill Bank (West) is situated in Rusthall near the town of Tunbridge Wells, and is the original site of the school. The administrative centre for the school as a whole is based here.
  • Sevenoaks - Broomhill Bank (North) is situated in Hextable near Swanley and opened in September 2015 as a result of the school expanding. The residential provision for the school is located here.

The person we are looking to appoint to this position will be expected to fully commit in an outward facing way to this ongoing development and this will involve a degree of commuting between sites. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the Broomhill Bank (West) site and will be the member of the Leadership Team, who leads the Broomhill Bank School (West) provision on a day to day basis They will also be expected to work enthusiastically and inclusively with the Head of School at Broomhill Bank (North) and colleagues on the wider Leadership Team, to achieve the strategic vision of the school. They will be directly accountable to the Executive Headteacher and Governing Body.

Broomhill Bank is a coeducational foundation special school, situated within beautiful grounds in West Kent. We cater for students with communication and interaction difficulties (C&I) who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and are likely to benefit from a place in a special school. Students eligible for places will probably have a diagnosis of Autism, Aspergers or other significant social communication difficulty, such as pervasive developmental disorder, and/or severe receptive or expressive language impairment or disorder.

Following an Ofsted inspection in March 2018, Broomhill Bank School was judged to be a ‘good’ special school.

We are designated to cater for 280 students aged 11-19, In addition, we support a large number of students in local mainstream schools, and provide training for mainstream staff through our Outreach Services.
