Job overview
Head of School – South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College
Negotiable Package
South Hunsley is a genuinely outstanding school where everyone has the highest possible aspirations. We believe that the potential of young people is limitless and we are very proud of the fact that our students are the highest performing students in the East Riding. Our committed and caring staff are fundamental to the success of our students.
South Hunsley is a very large, heavily over-subscribed secondary school with over 2100 students on roll, including 430 in the sixth form. We are fortunate to work with fantastic students, an outstanding staff and supportive parents. The school was judged to be outstanding by Ofsted in 2013. In each of the last 3 years, our Progress 8 figure has been in the range of +0.49 to +0.59 and we have won the Pupil Premium Award for Yorkshire and the Humber in 2 of the last 4 years. Our sixth form goes from strength to strength and this summer we were placed in the top 10% of providers according to ALPS. We have an outstanding programme of personal development and extra-curricular activities and in 2016 we were rated as the third best state school for sport. South Hunsley is a Teaching School – the Wolds TSA – and we have also become a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training provider.
South Hunsley became an academy in April 2011 and in 2015 we became a multi-academy trust, opening a primary free school, Hunsley Primary, to support the increasing numbers of families moving into the area due to housing developments. Malet Lambert School joined us in February 2016, followed by Driffield School and Sixth Form in February 2017. Cavendish Primary School will join the Trust in 2018.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead an outstanding school in the next stage of its development. You will also be part of an outstanding Trust as you drive the quality of education provided at South Hunsley and ensure the future success of all our students. As Head of School, you will be working with a strong Trust Board and leadership team with a proven track record of success and you will liaise closely with other Heads of School within the Trust.
The closing date is midnight on Sunday 14 January 2018 and interviews will take place on 22 and 23 January 2018. In addition to the application form, please submit a supporting statement no more than 2 pages to annabel.glenton@southhunsley.org.uk. We would welcome the opportunity to talk to you and show you around the school and we invite you to contact Jonny Uttley, Executive Principal, on 07720719132 or Vanessa Arthur, Executive Principal’s PA, on 01482 631208 ext 209.
