We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful colleges in Wales.

The School of Building Services and Construction at Coleg Gwent offers a diverse curriculum across a wide range of levels, from entry level to level 5. Disciplines include Brickwork, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Renewable Energy & Multi-skills provision. The Newport campus serves approximately 1,600 full-time learners, around 300 of which study on full-time programmes. In addition, the department services a range of apprenticeship programmes and has a thriving commercial provision, serving the needs of local employers across a range of disciplines, including specialist BPEC ACS Gas courses and courses in renewable energy. The department has a team of approximately 30 staff who deliver across the school.

We are seeking to appoint a Head of School to lead this important area and provide direct line management to the building services and construction team. The role will focus on improving the learner experience and the drive towards improving success rates. As one of our key managers, you will provide excellent leadership to staff, setting high expectations and standards of behaviour, leading by example as an outstanding role model. You will be dynamic and energetic, with a proven track record in effective team management and an ability to inspire and motivate. You will be able to demonstrate effective and influential people management skills, together with excellent planning and organisation skills, and a good understanding of quality assurance and improvement. You will be an innovative, creative thinker with a background in building services, construction or a related subject area.
